Mid summer colours of Red, Green and White/Cream

Hi everybody

This is the last week of our June and Associated events at  Make My Monday,  and Jacqueline has chosen a colour theme for this week, Red, Green and White/Cream - Strawberries and Cream if you like - think Wimbledon which starts today!

For this card I have used a fabulous Stampin' Up set which I bought on that well-known auction site.  I have mixed the red inks, but the predominant one is DI Barn Door, and then dabbed over with other reds.  Strange how the top flower looks a lot darker when in real life it looks the same as the others.  The sentiment is from the same set and inked with a DI marker.  The edge of card is inked in the same green.  The layering card is Tim Holtz, and the corner die cut is Cherry Lynn.

i am entering this into the following challenges:

Clearly Inspired - Red, White and Green
Charisma Cardz - Here comes summer
Cute card Thrusday - here comes summer

Christmas in June

Hi everybody

At the  One Stop Craft Challenge  we have decided to switch the pace, and I know it is mid-summer, but for us it is Christmas in June!  So peeps, look at the scope you have to produce some great Christmas cards for us.

My card is a very simple one.  My image is Stampin Up, which I bought some time ago and never used.  I embossed the background card with an M-Bossabiltiies folder.  The background I have stamped on is inked with several shades of distress ink, and I used the same shades on the stamp, but with the addition of some darker dye ink as well.  Sentiment is Penny Black.

We have two sponsors this week:

Firstly, we are sponsored this week by Crafty Emma, who has provided a lovely set of stamps as a prize.  Sadly Emma has decided to close her business, so this is the last time we will see her as a sponsor.  We wish Emma well for the future.

And, secondly, we are sponsored by One Stop Card Crafts - our very own Shelley, who has very kindly provided a prize of of £10 voucher to spend in her store.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

2 Sisters - Anything Goes
Challenge Up Your Life - No Lines
Crafty Hazelnut Christmas Challenge - Let's get Inky
Fat Pages and Cards with Attitude - Anything Goes

I really appreciate it that you take the time to look at my blog and leave such lovely comments. Thank you each and every one of you. Hugs,

A Peony for Fred She Said

I always think peonies are very exotic flowers - so blowsy and exuberant, so I think the colour scheme I have chosen for this card really suits this bright orange bloom.

My papers are some I have had forever,  K & Co, Que Sera, which actually conjures up exotic climes of the Caribbean or some such other place.  I have lightly stippled Dried Marigold distress ink around the image.  Dies are Spellbinders and Cheery Lynn, and the centre border (paper ribbon) is a Martha Stewart punch.

I am entering this card for the following challenges:

Bearly-Mine - Flowers (FSS is sponsoring this challenge and there is a fabulous prize of a $20 voucher to spend in store.)
Creatalicious Monthly - Anything goes
Inspire me Friday - Anything goes
Love to Create - Summertime fun
Paper Pretties - Summer inspiration

A Midsummer night's dream ...

Hello everybody

We are into our third week of June and Associated Events at  Make My Monday,  and this week we have the fabulous theme of A Midsummer Night's Dream - so let's see all those fantastical and mysterious fairies, and let your imagination run wild.

I must admit I was struggling a little bit with this, until I remembered my lovely Lavinia stamps, which I am planning to add to when I go to the ArtStamps Show in Newbury next month.  I am afraid I cheated a little with my background as I had some pre-coloured ones, which I added extra distress inks to to make it a little more moody.  All the images are stamped in black archival ink.  I have added dots in pearly white on the starts and also some sticklers glitter.  Mounted on white card and then navy blue to finish off.

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Stampavie and more - Things with Wings
Cheerful Stamp Pad -In the Garden
Creative Mondays - Summer (well the title says it all!)
Make It Monday - Always Anything Goes

Pink, Green and White ...

Good morning everybody

I am sorry this has taken so long to post - unfortunately this week has been a complete disaster zone for me.  I lost a tooth crown and also broke the tooth, I had also been feeling terribly unwell, and ended up in hospital for two nights with a suspected heart attack!  However, the tests were not conclusive, so I have to go back to outpatients for some more tests which have been fast tracked.  To say I was frightened was an understatement ... as was my OH.

We have a favourite colour combination of mine at the  One Stop Craft Challenge  this week - Pink Green and White, and we want to see Easel Cards.  I cannot remember when I last made one!

My card is made with an LOTV image, and coloured with Promarkers.  The papers are from Victoria Garden, and I have used Spellbinders and Cheery Lynn Dies.  Embellishments include lace, pearls flowers and swirls and dragonflies - the latter being the Cheery Lynn dies.

I am entering this into the following challenges:

ATCs and cards with Attitude - Anything Goes
The Chererful Stamp Pad - In the Garden
House of Gilli - Summer / Vibrant Colours
Inspire Me Fridays - Anything Goes
Fun with Shapes and More - Summer

I really appreciate it that you take the time to look at my blog and leave such lovely comments. Thank you each and every one of you. Hugs,

Do you want to travel the world?

Hi everybody

At  Anything Goes  this week our theme is Travel or Around the World.  So lots of scope here for a variety of work.

I had had this idea about getting a bit messy, well I certainly did that with gesso, glue, ink and paper!

This is an 8x8" card.  I have covered it wit brown Bazzill, and then I took a piece of plan card, and added various bits of printed paper to it.  I painted over with a diluted mixture of gesso, and then overdstamped with from french test and a swirl.  My main piece is coloured with distress inks, and then I stamped the tickets down the side, the lady traveller image, and masked her and stamped the Eiffel tower and the Learning Tower of Pisa.  Stamps are B Line and Tim Holtz.  I added a prima flower and some pearl brads in the corners.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

CCEE Stampers - Create a card with a vintage feel
Charzima Cards - Travel
Crafts 4 Eternity - Travel
DL Art - A Card for a man
Gingerloft - Vintage
Craft your passion - Anything Goes
Make it Monday - Always anything goes
Try it on Tuesday - Anything Goes

Please pop across to the challenge blog - there are some fabulous creations by the team to inspire you.

Father's Day

Good morning

What a wet one it is!   Ten days time and it is mid-summer day!!

Firstly I want to say welcome to my new followers.  Thank you for 'joining up'- I so appreciate it.

We are continuing our challenges at  Make My Monday  with June and Associated Events, and of course Father's Day is in the middle of June.  If you do not want to make a Father's Day card then a Masculine card would be fine.

I guess my card may be considered multi-gender, but certainly if my dear father was still with us (he passed away last September on his 92nd birthday), then this is what I would have given him.  One of Dad's abiding interests was plants, particularly his garden, but also the countryside.  And he was certainly a 'seedsman', collecting seeds around the garden and anywhere else he could get them, and germinating them in his greenhouse for the following year.  Hence my choice of stamp.

The background has been brushed with distress inks in various shades of green and I have overstamped in leaves from a Stampin Up set,  I have also stamped extra leaves and cut them out for the embellishment.  The main image is a Stampendous stamp.  I love their botanical images.  The flowers are Prima.

I am entering this into the following challenges:

CCEE Stampers - Create a card with a Vintage Feel
Cards for Men - Father's Day
Delicious Doodles - For the fellas
Desmet Challenge - Men/Boys
Dream Valley Challenge - For that Special Guy
Pan Pastels Uk Challege - Boys/Fathers
Secret Crafter - Happy Father's Day
Simply Create too - Father's Day/Male
The Pink Elephant - Masculine
The Stamp Man - Make it for a Man
Simply Create Too - Make it for a man

It's a pearly birthday

Good morning everybody

What a damp miserable day.  I really do hope that the last two weeks were not summer!

At  Make My Monday  we are starting a new set of themes for the month, and they are all June related.  So as pearls are the birth stone for the month we want to see Birthday Cards with Pearls.  You can check out the themes for the month here.  Our fab leader is the hostess for June, and as it is also her birthday on June 10, this is a very appropriate theme for this week.  Happy Birthday Jacqueline!

Please pop across to the challenge, there are some lovely inspirational samples.

I have gone for a fairly simple card.  I  have taken some Kraft card and used a Hero Arts stamp with Adirondak ink in Expresso.  I wanted the background to be slightly patchy so left inked fairly lightly in some areas of the stamp.  The gingham strip across the bottom is a B Line stamp, and to this I have added some lace.  The flowers are butterfly are both from a Hero Arts/Sizzix set, an again have been stamped in the Expresso ink.  The sentiment is Stampin Up.

I should say that my inspiration for this came from something I saw on Kath Stewart's blog - she does some amazing work which I have constantly admired.

I am entering this in to the following challenges:

The Ribbon Girl - Use Ribbon Or Lace
The Secret Crafter  - Anything Goes
Crafty Calendar - Flowers in Bloom
Sweet Stampin - Let's see your favourite stamp - this is one! of mine
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Bunny Zoe - Anything Goes
Crafty Ann- Butterflies and flowers
Dilly Bean - Stripes
Aud Senitments - Any sentiment

Memo from the Queen ...

Hi everybody

I hope you are all looking forward to the Jubilee Bank Holiday and have some fun times planned with family or friends.

This Saturday at the One Stop Craft Challenge we are celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and we want to see Crowns or diamonds and red, white and blue, on your projects.

I have made an 8 x 8" card.  I have layered up red, white and blue card and on top of that a sheet of paper with the flagon it.  My stamped piece has a background created with Pan Pastels, and a stencil used to create the diamond background.  A variety of stamps have been used - Stampotique, Hero Arts and Papermania.  The embellishments are a crown brad and some tiny gems on the centre of the flowers running along the top.

I had this card planned a long time ago when I saw the Memo from the Queen stamp, and several options for the sentiment, (from Stampotique) but decided to go for the saver option!

Artistic Stamper - June challenge - red, white and blue
Amusing Challenges - Anything Goes
Dream Valley Challenges - Humour
Catch the Bug - Anything Goes
Craft your days away - Red, White and Blue
