Every life has a story.

I decided to put to good use some of the stuff I have learnt at the workshops I attended recently at L B Crafts.  These were run by Linda Elbourne, who has recently become a Ranger Educator.  If you ever fancy a crafty shopping spree I can defintely recommend L B Crafts, and there are a variety of classes being run fairly regularly.

So the challenge I am entering this pierce of work for is Crafty Ann's Challenge #19 - and you need to illustrate a song by Sir Cliff Richard.  In my teeny-bob years (help! - when was that?) he was my idol, along with people like Billy Fury, Adam Faith, etc, etc.  I remember I wanted to go and see Cliff at Southampton, and my sister - who is year 3 years younger than me, so she would have been about 10, wanted to come as well.  It was a Sunday, and the only way we were allowed to go was if Dad came on the train with us to Southampton.  He went to church, while we were at the show!!

So, the song I have decided to illustrate is 'With the Eyes of a Child' which was released in 1969. As soon as I decided on that song I knew which stamp I would use - but what to do.  The stamp is from a Paper Bag Studios stamp plate.  I have taken a small canvas and covered it in a mixture of Kaiser Craft paint - two shades of green, and then spritzed through a Glimmer Mist mask with a Key Lime Pie glimmer mist.    The stamping on the canvas is with Wendy Vecchi stamps, and I have also made a grunge paper rose, leaves and butterflies.  The rose and butterflies were coloured with distress inks and then misted with Antique Brass Glimmer Mist.  I took a Maya Road frame and covered it with Shabby Shutters distress ink, and then sprayed it with the Key Lime Pie mist, and when that was dry, Antique Brass.  I have added some jewels to be butterflies, and some Tim Holtz corners to the canvas.

Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your comments.

Something different ........

I started making a tag book a little while back, and have now completed it.  I am not going to show every single page.

The covers are made from thick cardboard, coloured with distress ink, and stamped over with archival ink in coffee with two different stamps.  All the embellishments, made from Wendy Vecchi stamps, are again coloured with distress inks, are made from grunge paper with the exception of the frame, which is chipboard.  There are also a couple of bits of Tim's metal included - the philosophy tag and the corners of the book, and some little pins which have been coloured with alcohol ink.

The inside tags have been inked with distress inks in three colours - old paper or linen, spiced marigold and fired brick.  In some cases they have been sprayed with glimmer mists through masks to add a bit of extra interest.  Most of the words are some favourite Tim Holtz stamps, as resonate well with me at the moment, as are the images.

I am entering this for the Charmisma Cardz challenge, as they are looking for metal on what is entered.

Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your comments.
