DT Posting - One Stop Craft Chellenge - Not a card

Hi everybody

I have had a lovely few days - but have not produced much in the way of crafty stuff.  My life long friend Lesley took me out to lunch on Wednesday for my birthday.  We met at 12 noon and did not leave the pub until 4.15 - just a lovely afternoon of girly laughter and catching up.  Very little drinking though as we both had to drive home as we met halfway.  On Thursday my lovely OH took me out for afternoon tea with champagne at the most wonderful hotel, Four Seasons at Dogmersfield, which is not too far from us.  A beautiful manor house set in the most beautiful parkland.

Anyway - on to my DT entry for the One Stop Craft Challenge - and this week the theme has been chosen by the very talented Sharon.  Check out the OSCC blog for all the team's entries, and Sharon's blog to see her wonderful work.

My DT piece is a canvas that I started at a class at LB Crafts, and have recently finished.

The canvas is painted with Kaisercraft Acrylic paint in two shades, with some distress ink wiped over as well, and then overstamped in black archival ink with a swirl.  The square embellishments in the middle are made by embossing copper colour metal usingTen Second Studio molds.  These are then brushed over with some black paint to distress them.  The cage - I am sure lots of people will recognise - as one of Tim Holtz's dies.  This has also been through an embossing folder.  The leaves are stamped, and cut out of the metal, and the flowers made with a die - I thnk Sizzix - but cannot be sure.  The little copper coloured flowers were horrible sequins, but a little Inka Gold paint goes a long way to transforming them, and then I have added tiny black crystals to the centres.

I have shown you a little more detail below.

I am entering this for the following challenges:

Paper Cutz Challenge #55 - Anything goes

Have a lovely weekend.

A messy, painty day .....

I had a brilliant day on Wednesday at LB Crafts at a workshop run by the talented  Linda Elbourne.   I learnt how to use my Ten Second Studio metal tools a  bit more, made a gringe rose , and generally played with paint and grunge paper.  Great fun and really messy!  As a result of which I have come home with a few additions to my crafting stash, including some lovely Viva paints of various types, some metal, and some other bits and pieces.

This is the piece I made in the class. It is a canvas which has been coated with two coats of Kaiser acrylic paint, and then I have wiped down the side some Inka Gold in a blue and antique silver, and also used a screen and wiped some antique silver through it on the opposite side.  There are various bits of grunge paper which have been painted and stamped, and some little flowers which have been coloured with distress inks, as has the rose and leaves.  However, the rose has been painted over with some Viva metallic paint, and the leaves coated with some Inka Gold.  The turquoise blue metal has been  embossed on a mold,  sandwiched ro grunge paper scuffed over with an abrasive block to remove some of the colour.

The frame and 'dream' ticket are Tim Holtz.  I have added the clips at the top, ready to hang the canvas up.

Was it worth the two and a half hours drive?  Yes - defintely!   It was really good fun, and I have some more classes booked.

Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your comments.
